The Mermaid Salt Scrub

The Mermaid, painted by Howard Pyle in 1910, is an elegant embrace of opposites: mermaid and man, land and water, join in a passionate and supportive posture against a setting sun on the horizon. The depth of color in the piece symbolizes the desperation of the subject matter: the siren appears to be rescuing the exhausted man from shipwreck or crisis. The overall feel of the piece seems to also suggest the two could be lost in a wave of passion, enraptured by the power of her femininity. Pyle died before finishing The Mermaid, so the true intention he had for the painting will never be known, but what we are left with is an overall feeling of fervor: there is distress, ecstasy and rapture in a simple first glance at this piece. The Mermaid is nothing if not beguiling.

Just one whiff of The Mermaid will transport you to the seaside at sunset: sultry Sandalwood oil guides the spirit while the crisp essence of Lemongrass opens your sensuality to explore the playful side of your nature.
