HECATE Coconut Milk Bath
“Black as night, erase death from our sight, white as light, mighty Hecate make it right”
Goddess of the crossroads, of magic, of night. She guides her followers from the darkness and into the light, chasing away the shadows with her two great torches. She is a primordial goddess, and her name was recorded in the temple scrolls long before the triumph of the Olympians. Hecate guards the home and its occupants with her two large, faithful hounds. It is said that when you hear a howl in the dead of night, Hecate is near. Serpents are also sacred to the goddess.
Hecate is heavily associated with the triple goddess, and is often depicted in traditional Maiden, Mother and Crone style. Due to the goddess’ guiding nature, this aspect of her iconography looks in three directions, past, present and future. As a protector goddess, Hecate watches over those that have been neglected, abandoned or oppressed. She is the deity to direct prayer to for loved ones lost in battle, both domestic and foreign, and those fighting silent battles of abuse and brutality daily. For all who are lost, Hecate’s light will find them.
Although she exists within the realm of darkness, Hecate draws her power from the earth. Hecate is fragranced with Plumeria and the oil of Elderflower, a queen among herbs. Elderflower is strongly spiritual, and the tree itself is rumored to draw its energy from the spirits it attracts. Therefore, it is a protective plant said to guard the wearer against lightning, disease and baneful magick.
